Frequently Asked Questions
What's Enhanced ACH?
Enhanced ACH is a payment method we offer large vendors to give them more control over their cash flow. Instead of waiting for a check or ACH payment to arrive, eligible vendors can choose Enhanced ACH to receive their payment faster.
How does Enhanced ACH work?
We send Enhanced ACH payments through a faster payment network and batch them to make sure you receive a consolidated payments summary email. Payments will arrive in the bank account like you’re used to—only faster and with detailed remittance information.
How do I turn Enhanced ACH on or off?
Log in to your Bill.com account and select Settings. You’ll be able to toggle the Enhanced ACH feature on or off.
How long does it take to enable Enhanced ACH?
It could take up to 2 business days, but usually the setup is completed sooner.
How much does each Enhanced ACH payment cost?
The cost per payment can vary, but the standard fee is 1% of the payment amount, paid by the payment recipient. The payer pays standard ACH ePayment fees to send the payment, whether the recipient selects Enhaced ACH or not.
Can the fee be billed separately?
No, we currently include the fee with the payment amount, but this may change in the future.
Who's eligible for Enhanced ACH?
To qualify, a vendor must have a subscription-free Basic Receivables account. The account must also match a minimal level of criteria of processing payments through Bill.com. If your account qualifies, you’ll see the option to enable Enhanced ACH in Settings.
Can I turn off Enhanced ACH for just certain customers or payments?
Currently no. If you only want to process certain payments via Enhanced ACH, we recommend also looking at Instant Transfer which can provide fast payment speed for selected payments.
What's the payment cut-off time?
The payment cut-off time is 6:00 pm Pacific Time / 9:00 pm Eastern Time. This is the deadline to submit a payment for processing.
Are there any limits?
More than 95% of payments will be eligible for Enhanced ACH. A small number of payments may not be eligible due to bank limitations.
Why do I need a default bank account?
You can add more than one bank account to send or receive payments in your Bill.com account. Each payment will be sent to the default bank account set at the time the payment is processed.
Which banks support Enhanced ACH?
All US banks are eligible to receive payments processed through Enhanced ACH.
How's Enhanced ACH different from standard ACH?
Enhanced ACH is a premium service with a fee. Compared to Standard ACH, Enhanced ACH provides payments up to 3 days faster, rich remittance information, and consolidated payment emails.
How's Enhanced ACH different from Instant Transfer?
Enhanced ACH is meant for larger companies processing a lot of transactions. Enhanced ACH includes rich remittance information and a consolidated email for easier processing. Also, all banks are eligible for Enhanced ACH with fewer limits.
If a payment processed through Enhanced ACH was sent in the evening, on a holiday, or weekend, when will the funds arrive?
All payments will arrive by 2:00 pm Pacific Time / 5:00 pm Eastern Time the next business day.
How do I know that my Enhanced ACH was successful?
You can log in to your Bill.com account to track the status of your payment.
Can I cancel an Enhanced ACH payment?
No, if a payment has been processed as Enhanced ACH, it cannot be canceled. However, if you disable the Enhanced ACH feature in your account before a payment has been processed, future payments will be processed with standard ACH timing.
Troubleshooting
Why didn't my payment qualify for Enhanced ACH?
Certain payments won't qualify for this premium payment method. If your customer paid you via Pay Faster, that payment won't be processed with Enhanced ACH. There are also a few scenarios where payments may not qualify due to payment or banking restrictions.
Why are some payments not included in the consolidated payment email?
Certain customer payments, such as Pay by Card, aren't included as Enhanced ACH.
Why didn't my payment arrive on time?
We process the payment as quickly as possible, but we rely on your bank to process the payment as quickly as possible. Each bank can have different timing, and some will arrive before 2:00 pm Pacific Time / 5:00 pm Eastern Time, but in rare instances, there may be delays in the banking process. If the payment hasn't arrived in the scheduled time, you may also need to reach out to your bank to learn when the payment will be applied to the account.
My customer initiated the payment yesterday. Why didn't I receive my payment?
The method used to make a payment will impact payment timing. Some payments may be delayed based on your customer’s Bill.com activity.
Why didn't my payment arrive the next day?
Enhanced ACH payments submitted by the daily cut-off time of 6:00 pm Pacific Time / 9:00 pm Eastern Time will arrive the next business day.
In rare instances, there may be delays based on your customer’s payment volumes. If it’s the next business day and the payment hasn't arrived by 2:00 pm Pacific Time / 5:00 pm Eastern Time, please check the payment status in your Bill.com account and reach out to your bank to learn when the payment will be applied to the account.
I'm having trouble with my Enhanced ACH transfer. What should I do?
Log in to your Bill.com account and check the status of the payment. Select Support in the navigation menu to reach out to Customer Support via the Help Center if you are still having an issue.
