There are 2 reasons that could lead to a change in the payment method for a Vendor Direct payment.
Expired virtual card payment
Vendor Direct numbers are valid for 20 days after the Arrives by date. Once it expires, we'll reissue the payment via their previous payment method (check or ePayment). The reissued payment will be free and your vendor will no longer be able to process the original virtual card number.
On the Payment details page for that payment, there will be a notification banner regarding change of payment method.
Vendor opts out of Vendor Direct
If a vendor opts out of Vendor Direct payments, we'll update their payment method from Vendor Direct, back to their previous payment method (check or ePayment). We'll also reissue any of their Vendor Direct payments that they haven't yet authorized. The reissued payment will be free, and your vendor will no longer be able to process the original virtual card number.
All future payments to the vendor will be by check or ePayment, with applicable transaction fees.
