You can choose to charge customers paying by credit card a convenience fees or surcharge. Convenience fees and surcharges must adhere to rules set by:
- State law
- Federal law
- Card association rules and regulations

Activating a Convenience Fee
After determining the governing rules pertaining to convenience fees, the fee can be activated in Bill.com by following these steps:
- Log in to Bill.com
- Click Settings
- Under Receivables, click Online Payments
- Next to Credit Card, click Manage by Convenience Fee
- Enter the convenience fee as a flat fee or a percentage of the payment
- Click Save Note: When you specify a flat fee (e.g., $10.00), only that amount is charged, regardless of the amount fo the payment or the number of invoices paid. A percentage fee (e.g., 1.5%) applies to the total payment amount submitted for all invoices paid with that payment.
De-Activating a Convenience Fee
- Log in to Bill.com
- Click Settings
- Click Online Payments under Receivables
- Click Manage by Convenience Fee xext to Credit Card
- Clear the amount in the Convenience Fee field
- Click Save
