Exporting records and transactions using .CSV files

If you use an accounting software that doesn't sync with Bill.com, use can use .CSV files to export transactions (bills and payments) from your Bill.com account to import the data into your accounting software.

Export/Import Process

Update Preferences

  1. Click the gear icon
  2. Under Import/Export, click Preferences
  3. Click the edit icon
  4. Enter the accounts from your accounting system
  5. Click Save

Run Cash Detail Report

  1. In the left navigation pane, click Reports
  2. Under Export Reports, click Cash Detail Report
  3. Enter the date range of the transactions to export
  4. Click Download
  5. Toggle radio button to Save file
  6. Click OK

Run Unpaid Accrual Summary Report

  1. In the left navigation pane, click Reports
  2. Under Export Reports, click Unpaid Accrual Summary Report
  3. Enter the date range to match the Cash Detail Report
  4. Click Download
  5. Toggle radio button to Save file
  6. Click OK

Import Reports

  1. In your accounting software, import the two .CSV files.

Things to know

The transactions imported from your Bill.com account will appear in your accounting software as Journal Entries in your General Ledger.

The following Bill.com reports are also helpful to keep your accounting system in sync with the Bill.com Accounts Payable activity:

  • Accrual Summary Report
  • Accrual Detail Report
  • Cash Summary Report
  • Unpaid Accrual Detail Report

To export Accounts Receivable transactions, use the Open Invoices and Received Payments reports.

You can also use the export function to export records from Bill.com:

  1. Click the gear icon

  2. Under Import/Export, click Import/Export

  3. Click Export in the column titled Export Records to .CSV Files of the entity you are exporting

  4. Select the data export option: Export All

    • The export report will contain a complete list of all records for this entity
    • Click Export All and your export will begin immediately

    Custom Export

    • Filters are available to export exactly the information you need without having to manually manipulate a complete list of records
    • Click Export with Filters and manage the fields and values you'd like to filter
    • If you change your mind and want to export a complete list of records, click Export All
    • The export will begin immediately.

Depending on the number of records, it may take several minutes to process the requested report. Continue working and return to the Export History page to check the status.
